We set sail from Corfu to explore different areas in Greece at sea and on land. Every morning there will be a classical yoga session followed by breakfast and sailing. Alternating days there will be a yoga nidra before or after lunch OR a satsang and meditation in the evening. Flexibility is key as we are reliant on the weather for sailing and for the asana practices.
It is your choice if you would like to get actively involved in sailing or if you prefer to relax and enjoy the sailing journey. Blair is a brilliant coach (don't take our word for it, please click here to see his testimonials) so if you are wanting to learn more about sailing or improve your skills (sailtrimming, parking, planning, MOB for example), he will provide guidance at your level.
There will be many opportunities to explore villages and beaches, go for swims, relax, and indulge in the greek cuisine.
For more detailed information please read on or if you are already hooked please contact XP at Sea by clicking here with your booking enquiry.
Each morning we will find a beautiful location to practise a 1 to 1.5 hour yoga session. This could be an idyllic beach or a harbour with beautiful views. Yoga is holistic self-care and during this retreat our morning practise will set us up for the day ahead. We focus on several aspects such as postures, breathing methods, mantra, and meditation. Yoga philosophy (mindfulness off the mat) is incorporated throughout the day.
Alternating days there will be Yoga Nidra or Satsang.
Yoga nidra:
Before or after lunch, make yourself comfortable to experience yoga nidra on board. Let yourself be guided into a meditative state and enjoy this nourishing and relaxing practice, also known as yogic sleep. Not familiar with yoga nidra? Read more about it here.
Satsang and meditation:
We gather around 8.30pm for Satsang and meditation. Sat roughly translates to truth and sang translates to together or community. Explore the 8 limbs of yoga, listen and discuss yogic text, and enjoy breathing and meditation practice. If you would like to know more about, for example, a specific yama or niyama, please do let us know as Ingrid is happy to accomodate.
It does not matter if you are a beginner or advanced practitioner. Ingrid creates yoga practises tailored to the group. When signing up for the retreat, she will be in touch with you and organise a call a few weeks before the retreat to discuss your hopes and requirements. Every day Ingrid will keep you up to date about timings for the practises. Flexibility during this retreat is key as we do not control the weather conditions.
From Corfu - Gouvia we set sail for Sivota which is a beautiful coastal town with plenty of bars and restaurants. The Sivota Islands group are just offshore – Nisis Ay Nikolaos, Nisis Sivota and Nisis Mavros Notos. These rugged islands have long been popular with cruisers as good places to swim and unwind.
Next up will be the island of Paxos, with the first stop being Lakka Bay. Going ashore is simple and we can enjoy an afternoon here before the short hop to Gaios down the eastern coastline. Gaios is a natural harbour with a winding entrance that must be seen to be believed. Across the open sea on the mainland sits Parga, with its cascading buildings of spectacular colours. Be sure to bring your camera!
If the weather allows, we could travel back north to Petriti and anchor up at one of the Ionian's glorious sandy beaches where you have the option of a range of activities available. As we return to the island of Corfu, the choices open up. One option is to visit the old Venetian Fortress at Mandraki Harbour, within striking distance of Corfu Town; abound with bars and restaurants.
This is a sample itinerary and is subject to weather conditions and other considerations
Regardless of whether you are a keen sailor or not, you cannot help be be captivated by the simplicity of sailing. XP at Sea provides high standard training and knowledge that will expand your skillset and therefore your enjoyment of this wonderfully free-spirited activity. For example, learning the ropes, practising parking or navigation could not be easier with expert tuition given at a level that you will understand and appreciate.
Fun is at the heart of all XP at Sea's endeavours and is also a big part of the retreat. Join in and who knows, you might fall in love with sailing. If you have never set foot on a yacht before, do not worry. Sailing experience is great but not necessary as your skipper, Blair Scott, is a very experienced sailing instructor and Yacht Master with the RYA. Actively sailing is fully optional. Polish off your sailing skills, chat yoga philosophy, meditate, read a book, or simply enjoy the sunshine. The choice is yours.
Ingrid also knows how to handle the ropes, you are in good hands.
It is incredibly important on a Yoga and Sail Retreat to be comfortable at all time. This yacht built in 2019 exceeds expectations on that front with 4 double cabins, each with individual mattresses made from modern foam technology for singular sleeping comfort.
The spacious galley area means that preparing and eating meals below is a pleasure, however why sit below when the sun will be shining on the incredible open deck and cockpit. Twin helming positions mean we can sail in style maintaining good balance as the boat heels, not to mention the easy-to-use touch-screen plotter a short glance away. With an in-mast reefing mainsail we can operate the sails from the cockpit. Simple and efficient.
Two heads available, along with two water tanks meaning a warm shower is never an issue. The low down swimming platform makes taking the plunge even more attractive. Overall, our modern monohulled yacht means we can really easily take advantage of nature's power and she will take us to wonderful places so we can focus on the yogic practices that are the main reason for joining us. With such a beautiful location on a yacht, we believe there is no better way to recharge the mind, body and soul!
On board we will strive to provide tasty and healthy vegetarian options for both breakfast and lunch. From traditional fruit and yoghurt with an option to add honey, to Greek salads and pittas. Of course, you get to have your say in the lead up to the trip. Please do let us know about any dietary requirements.
As you cannot experience culture without enjoying the local cuisine, the evening meals will be taken ashore at the local venues and restaurants that pervade the coastal towns and marinas that we will be visiting. Enjoy a bit of moussaka or keep it vegetarian with a delicious spanakopita. There are many options for you to sample and delight in.
Evening meals are not included. You are most welcome to use the kitchen if you prefer to stay a night in.
We meet on the 11th of October 2024 at Gouvia Marina on Corfu. There is no set time to arrive as this depends on travel arrangements, Ingrid and Blair are ready to welcome you in the afternoon. The boat will be ready to board in the afternoon as well.
You organise your own travel to and from the boat, travel insurance, and bring your own yoga mat, appropriate props if needed, and a blanket.

XP at Sea Sailing - Blair has been a coach for various adventure sports since 2008. He worked hard over the years to develop his knowledge so he now teaches skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, canoeing, powerboating, and of course sailing!
'I am very enthusiastic about the outdoors and hope to share that enthusiasm with those that want to level up their sailing with me. As a RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and Cruising Instructor, I am very familiar with the methods and teachings that the RYA want to see in order to level up and gain higher qualifications.
I am also a Shored-based Navigation Instructor so I am well versed in teaching the fineries of the theory.
After 20+ seasons of coaching, I certainly feel like I have a lot to offer so please do send a quick message to start your own levelling up experience.'
Petals and Aum - Ingrid is a yoga teacher, spiritual life coach, author, death doula, and horticulturist who loves to assist others with creating sanctuary within and fully accepting themselves. She has been teaching yoga for 10 years now and specialises in traditional (raja or classical) yoga, yin yoga, yoga nidra, mantra, and meditation. Fun is a big part of her life.
'For yoga and sailing we need to be in the present moment. This is a very powerful combination when it comes to tuning in with ourselves, recharging, fun, and adventure. I am very much looking forward to sharing this unique and incredible experience with you!'
'I had a great time on this trip in Greece! As a novice sailor and not very experienced yogi, it was a great learning experience and great to see how what I learnt from yoga can be applied to sailing and vice versa. Blair was a great teacher who explained the basics of sailing to me throughout the trip and encouraged me to apply the newly learnt skills during our daily sailing sessions. Ingrid really immersed us in the world of yoga. She started the journey with some lighter and meditative exercises, developed them further and increased the level of difficulty day by day. I enjoyed learning to be present and fully embrace the experience. Having a group from all over the world made this trip very special and I hope that the friendships made on board will live on. All in all, I can only recommend the sailing-yoga retreat! You will have an unforgettable experience!' - Joëlle
'The Yoga & Sailing retreat is exactly what it says it is. To be honest I was expecting yoga to be just the exercise part but was pleasantly surprised to be immersed in a holistic yoga experience which I thoroughly enjoyed and which has stayed with me since. I already had some sailing experience but Blair is an amazing hands-off (hands-on for us!) instructor and I learnt more from him in one week than ever before. I would definitely go back for a repeat! Both Ingrid and Blair are lovely people who (I hope) have become lifelong friends.' - Maria
"I had a great time on the Yoga and Sail Retreat jointly run by XP at Sea and Petals and Aum. I didn’t really know what to expect when I arrived, but it was a great week. Yoga was woven in throughout the day which was an incredible experience but could also be intense. I learnt a ton which I try to practice in daily life particularly when struggling mentally. Blair helped me build on my sailing skills and confidence whilst skippering. Another great trip!" - Amanda
